Amalfi starts with large South American hides that are thicker than standard and are then tanned in Italy. Often, thicker leathers end up boardy and heavy, but due to a special re-tannage and finishing process, using synthetic oils and different tanning agents, the finished product of Amalfi is ultra soft and supple. This leather has a roller applied pigmented finish to create uniformity and consistency in colour and look across the hides, allowing the big, pronounced pebble grain to remain plump and add to the overall luxuriousness of this leather. In addition, a water-based topcoat is applied to give Amalfi great wearability.
